Arts & Crafts Wood & Mica Lamp

Quarter sawn oak lamp base with beautiful natural mica shade. This early 20th century design is crafted of solid white oak (not a veneer) and finished with in a dark "ammonia fumed" color that accentuates the ray flecks revealed in the quarter sawn oak. Ammonia fuming was a common technique for wood finishing during the Arts & Crafts period. Unfortunately the use of ammonia is not very friendly to the environment, so we chose to use a simple aniline die & stain finish for this lamp that duplicates the wondrously rich color of early Arts & Crafts oak furniture and lighting. The mica paneled shade complements the simple, natural design of this lamp, as does the true-to-era rayon cloth-covered lamp cord and early style "Acorn" motif wall plug. 29" ht.
