I have just completed a restoration to oil lamp use of the nickle plated model with satin shade. The leaks (3) were tiny holes puctured by the embossing on the font that were located by lung blowing air with the lamp under water. A few minutes soldering and it is now a gorgeous free standing light giving lamp worth many times it's cost. Solder on nickle plating can't be seen. I also sealed the little filler cap with silicone calking. Using KLEAN HEAT kerosene substiture it burns beautifully with out an odor. I also had to bend open the wick guide to insert a 3/8 inch wick.
